What is a Hurricane Hutch?
The Hurricane Hutch is the first safe on the market designed specifically to withstand a direct hit from a Hurricane or Tornado. It is designed especially to withstand debris strikes associated with nature’s fiercest storms such as CAT 5 hurricanes and F4 tornadoes while protecting your valuables. The 7 cubic feet interior can hold your most precious documents: photos, family heirlooms, china, jewelry, important personal documents such as passports or birth certificates, computers or computer hard drives, money, collectibles, etc. The Hurricane Hutch will protect the items you may not be able to take with you during an evacuation.
This unique unit is made entirely from 10-gauge steel plate and is proudly hand-welded in our USA facility. The Hurricane Hutch is custom painted and able to be installed inside your home or out. The handsome unit is bolted down into your cement slab using ten ½ inch diameter, 5 inch long anchor bolts, the same ones used in U.S. military applications and rated to withstand over 100,000 pounds of pulling pressure.
Most safes on the market are NOT water tight. The Hurricane Hutch, when tested against a water cannon shooting a fierce blast of water 135 mph right at its seal, keeps all its contents dry. Other safes would most likely be flooded. The Hurricane Hutch features a seal against the water and rain associated with hurricanes and tornadoes. It will protect your treasures when you're not there to safeguard them yourself.
Other large, impressive safes on the market are unable to withstand the fury of a CAT-5 Hurricane or F-4 Tornado. Those safes would be ripped from their puny anchors and would tumble for miles in excessive wind storms. Other safes offer paper thin sheets of steel on the sides, top, and bottom, which are easily punctured and the internal contents destroyed. The Hurricane Hutch features 10 gauge plate steel around all its sides to ensure the safety of its contents.
NO other safe has EVER been tested against the debris impacts of hurricanes or tornadoes! The Hurricane Hutch is the ONLY safe ever to be tested by Texas Tech University Wind Science and Engineering Research Center, and it passed all the tests while maintaining structural integrity. (Tests include the Dade County test, debris strikes associated with CAT-5 and F-4 tornadoes, which simulated 250 mph debris strikes.)
Need quick access to the unit without the extra pressure of remembering your access code? The Hurricane Hutch uses a dual locking system, in effect doubling up the locking system used on emergency and military vehicles. To open the Hurricane Hutch, just put in your key and you are ready for quick access inside or out. The Hutch opens easily, the 60 lb lid slides open with the lift of a handle due to its hydraulic pistons.
